If you're the parent or family member of a child who has come out as
gay, lesbian, bisexual, or is questioning their sexual orientation or
gender identity, then you may find yourself, like many people,
searching for the answers that will help put everything in perspective.
Certainly you love your child or other family member, but sometimes,
this knowledge can seem to fly in the face of everything you have been
taught in your life the love you feel for them runs counter to
what society may have told you it means to be queer. Whoever has shared this news with you has most likely gone through a similar process of evaluation, and it's usually only after they have come to accept themselves, to feel good about who they are, that they they find the courage to share this imporant part of themselves with those they care most about. If someone close to you has come out, please know that this informatiaon is a gift that they have chosen to share with you. If you're having a hard time dealing with this news, then we invite you to explore these archives. If you have a family member who has come out, and are at a point where you would be willing to share your own story, we invite you to do so. Write down your experiences so that others may learn from them, so that they can share in the things that went well, and in those that could have gone better. The words you write will help others along their own journeys. It's easy to search the archives.
